  1. What did you do this past week? This past week I went to Louisiana for my regional tournament. I also found a partner for the upcoming Voting project and worked out a rough schedule on when we are going to work on it.
  2. What’s in your way? Just lack of time/being tired. I was pretty busy this past week so I was usually too tired and unmotivated to work on schoolwork whenever I had the time.
  3. What will you do next week? This upcoming week I will try and finish the Voting assignment so I don’t have to stress about it right when it is due. I also have an OS assignment due on Wednesday and I definitely need to start grinding on that. Apart from these assignments, I will also just focus on relaxing and recovering to let me body heal. I’m really trying to get into a better schedule and hopefully this week I can make some progress towards that.
  4. What did you think of Paper #5: Single Responsibility Principle? I wasn’t a huge fan of the paper. Conceptually, it sort of made sense, but the examples they used were a little confusing. I think most of it is because we were thrown in at a random point in the series of papers.
  5. What was your experience of l-values, r-values, pointers, and references? I’ve taken a few classes using C and C++ so I was already relatively familiar with pointers and references. L-values and r-values were very interesting to learn about, although the differences between different programming languages is quite complex and hard to reason about.
  6. What made you happy this week? We won our regional tournament and I felt really proud of how my team performed this week. It felt like we were finally able to see some of the effects of the work put in at our practices and that is always a rewarding feeling.
  7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week? I read this real neat article I found about how tech companies could simply attract new workers by increasing their efforts towards environmental sustainability. Here it is if anyone would like to read: https://www.zdnet.com/article/want-to-attract-new-tech-talent-start-thinking-green/
