- What did you do this past week? This past week I spent most of my time working on a project in my other CS class. I was finally able to get it working and managed to get it in on time.
- What’s in your way? Not much is in my way at the moment. I’ve been relatively productive and motivated to get all my work done. My time management and everything is starting to fall in place so hopefully that can be maintained.
- What will you do next week? This next week I will try and get the Darwin project finished. I haven’t started yet so hopefully it isn’t too difficult. I also have another project due in another class, a final interview for an internship this summer, and a few IM games I need to play, so it’ll be a busy week!
- What did you think of Paper 11. More getters and setters? It was super long… Apart from that though, I thought it was a good elaboration on last week’s paper.
- What was your experience of std::queue, std::priority_queue, std::set, and friends? I definitely didn’t have a ton of experience with these topics this week. I understood the purpose of the friend functions, but I’m not sure I am still fully confident in how they differ from methods so I will definitely have to go and review the class notes before our quiz tomorrow.
- What made you happy this week? I had a really good weekend. I got to hang out at Zilker with some friends yesterday, had a small little hangout with some friends, and our team won our IM softball game. It was just super relaxing and a good weekend to take my mind off of classes for a little while.
- What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week? My tip-of-the-week this week is simply to get exercise and spend some time outdoors. I know I find myself quite often sitting at my desk all day programming or doing other work. I become sedentary and I tend to lose focus super easily. However, whenever I start my day with a walk outside, I find that I am a lot more productive and can finish a lot more of my work. Not only will it help you stay active, but it can probably help you be a better developer as well.
